Dear Friends,
Romans 10 says:
“But how are they to call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!’”
The team from A Light to the Nations recently returned from Nyagatare in the northwest region of Rwanda, East Africa. We were privileged to be the ones ‘sent to preach’ and to see the power of the Good News. There were many highlights as once again we handed out over 130,000 ‘new believer’ books to those making a profession of faith. The participating pastors later asked for another 20,000 for the people who had been unable to obtain a book and for their own churches to use in their follow-up with future new believers.
The Women’s Conference certainly exceeded any we have held to date. The facility held 3,200 people jammed together. Not only was it filled, but more than 1,500 women sat outside the building listening through loudspeakers. Karman Morey did a terrific job! At one point when she began to pray for the women, the Holy Spirit came with such power that the women began to cry out with tears flowing and hearts being filled with God’s love for them!
Despite the rural setting, thousands attended each night with the signs God has promised following (see Mark 16:14-18). One of our African team members had brought his cousin, a mute man who, for the last twelve years, had displayed such violent behavior he often had to be restrained. When the team member went to check on his cousin after the meeting, he was speaking and acting normally! (Luke 11:14 “And He (Jesus) was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled.” Luke 8:29 “For He (Jesus) had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles.”)
This trip was special to me because our son, Adam, a pastor in Michigan, was able to come along and preach at the leaders’ Fire Conference. He and I, together, also spoke briefly to the evening crowd. He did a great job, as did all the team. Dana Morey continues to grow in power as he brings the message each evening. The salvations, healings, and deliverances from evil never cease to astound me! God loves people and longs to bring them into His family. We are greatly blessed to be doing this challenging, life-changing work. Check out our website: www.alighttothenations.com.
Our Mexico school lunch program continues full steam ahead even when I am in Africa. San and I have faithful cooks who care for the kids and serve the lunches. This is also the tourist ‘high season’ when many of our American and Canadian friends bring down school supplies, clothing, and donate their time and money for the village children; A big “Thank You!” to all of you. Last Thursday, we had a drawing in each class at Boca de Tomatlan with the winners taking home new (donated) backpacks. The kids loved that game.
Thank you for your prayers, your gifts, your love, and your financial support. We especially appreciated those year-end gifts which are so welcomed. With God’s grace and your help, we will keep ‘Caring for Kids’!
Love and blessings,
Randy and Sandra Barr
