Dear Friends,
We recently returned from Moshi, Tanzania, East Africa, near Mt. Kilimanjaro. The LIGHT TO THE NATIONS team did a terrific job, as usual, but this time the outdoor Gospel Festival ran without the slightest problem. (see alighttothenations.com ) There were people doing all types of jobs beyond their norm. Hillary Start (our newsletter creator) was one of our camera people, and a natural from day one. She had to daily endure the hot African sun while on a platform in the middle of the meeting grounds. Joelle McNamara (new wife of Corey) was one of our still camera photographers. She could be seen climbing the tall speaker stands or hanging out in the crowd taking some great photos.
Karman Morey, who leads our Women’s Conference, was also a photographer. She has always wanted to do more, and this time her desire was fulfilled. Karman also spoke with power to over 4,500 women, eliciting a great response.
All of the prayers, the radio programs, the Press conference, the TV programs, the Women’s Conference, Leaders’ Fire Conference, and the great evening meetings brought new life and hope to the city of Moshi. Over 29,000 ‘Decision for Christ’ cards were received, not counting many who could not reach a counselor. Evangelist Dana Morey continues to grow in his calling. The power of his delivery, the excellent messages, effective prayers, the decisions for Jesus and the amazing miracles continue to increase, with all glory going to God for His mercy. Dana’s leadership and humor gives each person on the team a sense of purpose and fun.
On the Mexican home front, we’ve begun the seventh year of our school lunch program in three small towns south of Vallarta. It is such a joy to see how much the kids have grown over the summer and to share the love we have developed over the years. Our faithful team of cooks and volunteer moms keeps the meals and care coming each week. Before eating, we and the children are asking God for new blessings this year: ‘Ayudanos a conocerte mejor’, ‘Help us to know You better.’
Juan is 17-year-old son of Mere, our Boca cook. He has assisted his mother these last four years in preparing meals at their house for over 100, delivering them to the school, and has helped us each week to serve. He graduated from High School last July and entered a ten month program to become a certified chef here in Vallarta. The cost is around $240. U.S. per month. Due to his faithful help and positive attitude, Sandra and I decided to help with his tuition. He is committed, intelligent and, without doubt, will become an excellent ‘cocinero’ (cook). We would appreciate your help in assisting Juan. Please give to the future of a mature, hard-working young man and to the school children here in Mexico.
