“Saul also went to his home in Gibeah, accompanied by valiant men whose hearts God had touched.”
1 Samuel 10:26
I believe we are living in critical days that will potentially determine the destiny of our lives and the generations to follow. We’ve seen how our nation has dramatically changed in the past 8 to 16 years. We see our enemies poised for altercations, the nuclear threat from North Korea and Iran, the ongoing civil war in Syria causing a refugee crisis, the expansion of ISIS, and on and on. We are nearing a presidential election that is further creating anger and division. What should we, as believers, do?
First, we must realize who our real enemy is. Ephesians 6:10-12 says: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
We are to recognize our battle is not aimed at people; rather, we are called to love everyone.
Secondly, we are to be wise and clear in focusing our prayers. We need prophetic praying like the sons of Issachar “men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” 1 Chronicles 12:32
Finally, we need to stir our faith and not make room for fear. Remember Who has the final word, our King; therefore, let’s be valiant and continue to follow Him.
This week, Mexico celebrated ‘Dia del Nino’/Day of the Child. Many activities and special lunches were planned for the celebration. The school at Boca de Tomatlan hired a very talented professional clown who engaged the kids and teachers in lots of hilarious games. We were able to add to the festivities by giving out dresses to the girls and T-Shirts to the boys. Our wonderful donors were sisters from the U.S. who’s church sewed over 200 dresses! (We reported on their gift to Quimixto in our last letter.)
In the smaller Quimixto School, they met on the BEACH for fun activities like jumping into the ocean from boats, belly boarding, swimming, and volleyball. It was fun to watch their simple delight and uninhibited participation.
We want to thank our faithful donors who make possible our school lunch program. We are very grateful and pray God’s best on all of you. God is using you to make a difference in hundreds of lives here. We were blessed two weeks ago, when a Boca class wrote and recited a poem of tribute and thanks to us. We ‘forward’ their thanks to you!
Blessings and love,
