By connecting resources in North America with needs in the Puerto Vallarta, Mexico area, and partnering with local communities to improve the health and well-being of CHILDREN, FAMILIES, and COMMUNITIES, we demonstrate God’s great love and grace for people.

ABOUT THE MINISTRY

We believe the best mercy ministries are built on relationships and improvement comes most powerfully when local communities are part of bringing it to pass. We have been able to identify specific areas of need and have worked with friends to address them. Here are our initiatives:

Feeding School Children

One of the best ways to show community leaders we care is by caring for their kids. When Dads and Moms see that we love their children, they come to trust us. This opens amazing doors for relationships. Each week, we provide and serve 800 school lunches in four coastal villages south of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Boca de Tomatlan; and three villages reachable only by water taxi: Quimixto, Yelapa, and Chimo.

Community Outreach

This initiative finds simple ways to help people work together to improve and prosper their community. Often, the answers are simple, for example: We gave a loan to Quimixto to underwrite their first annual “Surfing Contest”. Commemorative T-shirts and homemade sandwiches were sold. It was a big success! They repaid the loan and gave money back to community projects, such as their church building. The Mothers in one village volunteer their time to prepare the school lunches every week. To thank them, we paid for a Fiesta on Mother’s Day. We helped a friend and Registered Nurse host a mini Medical Clinic for several months, where she advised parents and gave out medicine. A short-term Missions Team of young adults helped pour a cement floor for a Church.

Special Events

Part of the work we do here involves organizing and/or subsidizing special events for the local community. Many times this is done as a way to say thank you and bless people for their help and sacrifice. Here are a few special events and activities we were a part of:

  • We gave a loan to Quimixto to underwrite their first annual “Surfing Contest”. Commemorative T-Shirts and homemade sandwiches were sold.  It was a big success!  They repaid the loan and gave money back to community projects, such as their church building
  • The Mothers in one village volunteer their time to prepare the school lunches every week.  To thank them, we paid for a Fiesta on Mother’s Day
  • We helped a friend and Registered Nurse host a mini Medical Clinic for several months, where she advised parents and gave out medicine
  • We organized a Clothing Giveaway (They loved it!).

Your financial support is what makes these kinds of events possible. If you would like to contribute to the work here, you can donate online. It’s simple and easy!

Short-Term Missions

As we are joined with local communities, we see so many needs.  Many families with young children may live in homes with dirt floors.  With the help of Short-term Missions Teams, we have been able to buy, haul, and pour cement floors in five homes, so far. We have also had short-term mission teams put on a VBS (Vacation Bible Study) for the local kids, as well as several other projects.

Bringing a group from your church on a short-term missions trip is a great way to help our ministry, while at the same time expanding the hearts and minds of your church members. They will see first-hand the great need—and great love—of the people of Puerto Vallarta. They will have a direct opportunity to show the love of Jesus to children and adults alike.

Contact us to inquire about scheduling a short-term mission trip for your group. We will be glad to discuss the different options available.

Local Church Involvement

Since 2008, I have been actively involved at Paradise Community Center here in Puerto Vallarta. In the past, Randy was on the Pastoral committee and had the opportunity to lead and teach Bible Studies, to preach occasionally, and to provide counseling when asked. I’m also enlisted to pray for those who come forward with needs, and have been actively involved in the Prayer Group. I also volunteers to teach Sunday School and volunteer to serve at the many community activities hosted at our facility as fund raisers for our church’s outreaches to the underprivileged of the area. This has been a source of joy for me and keeps me plugged in to a local fellowship of believers.

ALN Global Outreach

ALN (A Light to the Nations) is a nonprofit organization made up of business-minded Christians with a passion to cover the globe with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their vision is simple but powerful:

Win the lost.
Care for the poor.
Inspire the body of Christ.

Caring for the poor is where “Caring for Kids” fits in. Caring for Kids is the mercy ministry of ALN. In the past, Randy accompanied the ALN team when they held Gospel Crusades around the world. Randy spoke at the large meetings held each night and also helped teach at the Fire Conferences in the mornings. In addition to speaking and teaching, Randy would visit schools, orphanages, pray for the sick, pray for deliverance, and occasionally preside over blessing a herd of cows. There isn’t much Randy didn’t do as part of the ALN team. And now, Adam, my son is helping develop a curriculum to train African pastors.

Caring for Kids is blessed to be a part of the ALN team as we bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ into all the nations!
