Caring for Kids was formed in 2006 by Randy & Sandra Barr. Randy spent most of his ministry life pastoring churches but also participated in missions and always had a heart for missions. Below is a timeline of Randy and Sandra’s life in ministry together.

1973-1978 Upon graduating from college, Randy and Sandra were asked to direct the Canadian missions office in Montreal, for the T.L. Osborn Foundation. Randy was also the Program Director at Teen Haven, two Christian-based group homes for troubled adolescents, funded by the Canadian Government. For five seasons, he was the Chapel speaker for the National Baseball League Montreal Expos.

In 1978, Randy and Sandra moved to New Jersey, where for six years Randy was associate Pastor for a newly planted church. He was also a Social Worker for Monmouth County.

In 1984, Randy and Sandra were sent out to found Harvest Christian Church in Delaware; which is still thriving. Randy also served as a teacher and then Principal at Epworth Christian School.

In 1992, Randy received a call as senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church in Lombard, Illinois. Sandra helped lead women’s ministries and Bible Studies. With the help of Randy and FOL church, three members were sent out to start three new churches. Randy also taught and preached internationally in Kenya and Uganda, Africa, several South American countries, and the Ukraine.

In 2006, Randy visited a mission program in Guatemala that provided twice-weekly meals to children in several villages. It was a very impressive work that proved to be life-changing for the Barrs. After much prayer and counsel, they left the church to found a similar school lunch program in three villages south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. They also actively participated in their local church in a teaching, preaching, and intercessory prayer capacity. Randy traveled several times each year to several African countries to preach and teach with ‘A Light to the Nations’, in mass Gospel outreaches.

In 2020, Randy went to be with the Lord after years of faithful and fruitful ministry. Sandra, his wife, continues to carry on their important work of feeding the children—both physically and spiritually.

The school lunch program is supported by loving friends and new friends who hear about our efforts and want to be part of the team. It is the faithful sacrificial giving of these friends and family that allows this vital ministry to continue to change lives for eternity.
